The adventure fever from the Run2Sahara trip was far from over. It was quickly clear that the next small adventure had to happen. Because of other commitments, though, there was only time for a shorter tour this time.
On 2 June 2026 I set off straight from my front door. The original plan was a solo adventure across the Alps – and at the same time the journey was meant to serve as preparation for the Last Soul Ultra. But the weather conditions ruined my plans and forced me to adjust the original route.
And it was not only the weather that challenged me. Mentally, too, I struggled with myself again and again during this journey.
Yet with every kilometre the landscape changed – and with it my motivation. The route became more and more impressive and the early doubts receded further into the background.
On the last day one particular highlight was waiting for me: I climbed a mountain of around 2,500 metres and was rewarded with a breathtaking view of Mont Blanc.
In the end it was 430 kilometres in six days. Perhaps not a big adventure compared with other journeys – but an important test for body and mind, and at the same time a perfect training run for what was still to come.
For clarity: the destination of the tour was Chamonix at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif. Climbing Mont Blanc was not part of the journey.
