My first big adventure that I planned and organised entirely myself.
The idea came to me while I was studying in the USA. Ten years had passed since my last big adventure in Canada – and it was clear to me that something big had to happen again.
The idea of a running adventure took shape quickly. At first I had various destinations and routes in mind. After several months of thinking it over, one very particular route emerged: from the Black Forest to the Western Sahara. On top of that, donations were collected for Deutsche DepressionsLiga, an organisation dedicated specifically to mental illness.
On 1 October 2025 the adventure began at Münsterplatz in Freiburg. My father came along and accompanied me throughout the journey in his specially converted “Raptor” van.
From Freiburg the route took us through France, Spain and Morocco – kilometre by kilometre, day by day, always further south. What sounded like a crazy idea at first became a 59-day journey through the most varied landscapes, cultures and challenges.
On 28 November 2025, after 3,644 kilometres on foot, I finally reached the archway of El Aaiún in the Western Sahara. The fundraising target of 3,500 euros was also reached and handed over directly to Deutsche DepressionsLiga.
59 days. 3,644 kilometres. Four countries. Countless highs and lows.
Above all, this journey showed me what the human body is capable of when the mind refuses to give up.
